| The college Library is the nerve centre of all the academic activities of the college. The students and the faculty make profound use of the information resources and services offered by the college library. The Library aims at catering to the information needs of its clientele for their curricular, co-curricular and extra curricular activities. The well stacked and regularly updated information resources and services mainly concentrate on providing the right information to its users at the right time with the newly updated technological innovations. |

| The college library is housed in a separate two-storied building in the most prominent location of the college campus. The spacious reading halls, reference hall, periodical section and the vast stack areas offer the students a conducive atmosphere for reading and reference. At a time about 400 students can be accommodated in the library. The space available in the library is fully utilized. A fully furnished area of 6000 sq.ft. is used for reading; an area of 4000 sq.ft is for stacking the documents and an area of about 3000 sq.ft. is used for reference by postgraduates and researchers. The library also has a seminar room for holding meetings and seminars. |

| The college Library has a total collection of 63,541 volumes of documents. The library receives 133 titles of periodicals. This includes 91 National and 42 International journals. Mount Holyoke College, Massachusets, U.S.A enriches the library by generous subscriptions to American periodicals. The subjects covered form a wide spectrum of disciplines. Hence the information resources of the library provide information for the intellectual, cultural, spiritual, and recreational needs of the college community. The electronic resources also form part of the collection. The library follows the fully open access system and it is fully automated. |

| Facilities and Activities: |
- The computerized management of library operations, computer based retrieval of information, computer networking and Internet services of the Library saves the time of the Library users.
- The Internet facility in the library ensures access to the worldwide on-line databases.
- The regularly updated database of the library is available on the On-line Public Access Catalogue(OPAC). This caters to the bibliographic information of the documents available in the library from various access points of the users.
- The local area network (LAN) enables easy access to information at various sections of the library.
- The photocopying facility enhances the usage of the reference documents in the library.
- Book Bank facility is offered to the needy students as recommended by the Departments. The books are issued to them for a semester.
- The exclusive “Competitive Examination Resources” collection plays a vital role in shaping the future leaders of our nation.
- The library shares the resources of the British Council and American Center Library through Institutional Memberships.
- The Library is open from 8 a.m till 6 p.m catering to the information needs of its students.
- The regular display of latest arrivals of documents facilitates enhanced use of the nascent information.
- The College Library offers its services to outside Agencies who are referred to by the departments.
- Every year “Know Your Library” programme is conducted as part of Orientation for the first year students to brief on how to use the College Library effectively. The Library tour is also arranged to offer a hands-on experience for using Online Public Access Catalogue.

| Future Plans: |
- The Local Area Networking (LAN) is to be expanded connecting all the departments on campus.
- More PC terminals to be added enhancing the better access to the On-line Public Access Catalogue (OPAC) by many simultaneous users in the Library.
- Subscription of on-line journals which can be accessed from the Departments.
- Building up of CD collection especially the self-learning packages for the students preparing for the competitive examinations.
- To implement Wide Area Networking facility, which will enable the Library to be hooked with other libraries locally and at the national and international levels in a phased manner. Getting hooked to INFLIBNET at the national level is the immediate future plan of the library.
- Creation of a Digital Library is the ultimate goal of the Library.
- A browsing centre exclusively for the use of staff members is being set up as part of the Information Resource Centre of the College.
- “Cool Spot” is planned for facilitating relaxed reading exclusively for the students .
