About the tree Parts of this tree, especially the bark, have been used traditionally since the 7th century to treat heart diseases. Accordingly, it got the nickname, “Guardian of the heart.” It is known to strengthen cardiac muscle and normalize heartbeat. In Ayurveda, these tree parts are used, usually as a milk decoction. The hero of the famous epic ‘Mahabharata,’ was named after this tree because of its protective effects.
