About the tree The fruits are eaten fresh or cooked, or prepared as a dessert or lemonade-type drink. Each part of the tree has its own medicinal values. The twigs can be used as tooth brushes. Traditionally, the tea made from its leaves is used to treat malaria, peptic ulcers and intestinal worms. The leaf juice is applied externally to ulcers, wounds, boils and eczema. Neem oil can be used as a birth control method. Neem is commonly used in shampoos for treating dandruff. Most importantly, the neem tree is a potent insect repellent.
