Women’s Christian College situated in a sprawling 20 acre campus on College Road, Nungambakkam between the Metrological Department and the Office of the Director of Collegiate Education, was founded in 1915 by the united effort of 12 Missionary Societies from Britain, Canada and the United States of America. The College offers a wide range of relevant and need-based programs at the Undergraduate, Postgraduate and Research levels to women from the diverse National and Regional communities and varied socio-economic backgrounds. The mission of the college is to provide a complete, meaningful and relevant education to women so that they are intellectually well-trained, morally upright, socially aware and spiritually inspired. The College Motto –‘Lighted to Lighten’ – and the College symbols – a lighted lamp and a sunflower – have inspired the staff, students and alumnae of the College to serve the society with commitment and dedication.
Affiliated to the University of Madras, WCC has been an Autonomous Institution since 1982. Under autonomy, the College designs its curriculum, administers examinations and evaluates its students efficiently. The Degree is conferred by the University of Madras. The Choice Based Credit System provides students an array of courses to opt from, thus catering to their diverse interests and needs.
The recent re-accreditation by NAAC in April 2012 with an ‘A’ grade is a fitting testimony to the remarkable progress it has made in the last nine decades and a motivation to strive for excellence in its run-up towards the centennial in 2015.

WCC offers an American Transfer Program with Concordia College, New York, USA. Interested candidates may register for the program. Candidates securing admission in WCC will be considered if they fulfill the requirements for the program. |
