| The Department of Commerce was established in 1998, as the first undergraduate department to offer a program in the self-financed section. The department offers B.Com.( Accounting & Finance )which is oriented towards M.Com, CA, ICWAI etc , B.Com. (General )oriented towards M.Com, MBA, MA (HR) and B.Com. (Computer Applications) oriented towards M.Com, MCA, MBA (Systems) etc. and B.Com (Hons.) from June 2012 oriented towards higher education in India and abroad. |

The Department offers courses in emerging areas enabling students to acquire advanced knowledge in Accountancy with a blend of Management and Communication skills. Under the Choice Based Credit System, students are given the option of selecting interdepartmental courses.
A state of the art computer lab set up in 2009 facilitates ICT enabled teaching and learning.
The department conducts a certificate course and a diploma program to expose students to multiple job opportunities suitable for their entrepreneurial and management abilities |

B.Com. (Accounting & Finance)
Students who have completed the Higher Secondary Examination of the Tamil Nadu State Board or its equivalent with Accountancy, Commerce and Business/General Mathematics. |
B.Com. (General)
Students who have completed the Higher Secondary Examination of the Tamil Nadu State Board or its equivalent, with Accountancy and Commerce.
B.Com.(Computer Applications)
Students who have completed the Higher Secondary Examination of the Tamil Nadu State Board or its equivalent, with Accountancy, Commerce. |

B.Com.(Honors)
Students who have completed the Higher Secondary Examination of the Tamil Nadu State Board or its equivalent with 75% marks in Accountancy, Commerce and Business/General Mathematics |
| Activities: |
- Coaching classes for C.A. Course - CPT for 300 hours.
- Certificate course in Accountancy (with Tally) for the students of the aided section of the college for 200 hours
- Field Trips to Financial Institutions like RBI and other Manufacturing Organisations
- “Comkurrenz” an intercollegiate intellectual fest is organised by the department every year.

- The Department of Commerce Prize instituted in honor of Ms Eleanor McDougall for securing the highest mark in the core elective papers in semesters V & VI in B.Com(G).
- The Department of Commerce Prize instituted in memory of Dr. Kanmani Christian for securing the highest mark in the core and supporting papers in B. Com(A&F)
- The Cognizance 2001 award for securing the highest mark in the core and supporting papers in B. Com(G).
